"And with thy spirit" Ahh... Born the year the new Mass was implemented, I thought I'd never hear that in English in my life until a few months ago when the priest offering the Traditional Mass at the Cathedral made it a required response during the vernacular segments. He already knew what was coming.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, he also requested that "Holy Ghost" be abandoned as "Holy Spirit" was and is the more accurate English translation. Strangely that is a harder change for me than abandoning "and also with you." Though I usually use "Spirit", I memorized certain prayers with ghost and now it unconsciously and naturally rolls off the tongue for me.
Baby steps. God bless our Holy Father and give him the time to accomplish his mission.
